ONLINE CURRICULUM PLANNING
5 Tips for Online Curriculum Planning
For most people, online curriculum planning is challenging, either because they have never done it before or have not relied on it fully. If this is you, you are not alone in the struggle, but here are five tips that can help:

Provide Engaging Content
Engaging lessons are always important but more so with online learning. Without in-person interaction, teachers need to strive even harder to engage students.

There are many online resources, games, and more that you can use to get your students interested. Ask your peers and look online for advice on where to find great resources.

Give Collaboration Assignments
Just because students are not seeing one another in person does not mean that they cannot work together. Provide collaborative assignments that can be completed online asynchronously, or synchronously through video conferencing tools.

Add Real World Challenges
For most students to fully grasp a concept, they need to understand how it applies in real life. Find a way to put each lesson into a real world example that they can relate to.

Keep It Simple
Don’t overdo it. Without being in the presence of your students, it will be difficult to determine if they are catching on. Keep all of your lessons as simple as possible to give them a better chance at success.

Seek Help
We all need help from time to time, especially when facing something brand new. First, you should keep in touch with fellow teachers so you can discuss challenges you are facing along with any solutions you have found. Additionally, seek help from professionals for online lesson planning guidance.
